When designing the Corazon Necklace, we wanted to capture more than a symbol—we wanted to bottle emotion, to shape a feeling. Inspired by the rich cultural symbolism of the heart and the vibrant artistry of enamel work, we began the process with a hand-drawn sketch, balancing bold simplicity with elegant proportion.
Each pendant starts as a sheet of 14K gold, hand-cut into a perfect heart silhouette by our artisans in the San Diego Diamond District. Getting the symmetry just right is a challenge that demands both patience and precision—one slip, and the shape loses its emotional resonance. Once the heart is cut, it’s gently curved and polished until it gleams with a mirror finish.
Then comes the most delicate part: the enamel. We mix our own enamel pigment to achieve a deep, luminous cobalt blue—a hue we specifically formulated to evoke both modern edge and timeless depth.
Using a steady hand and a fine sable brush, the enamel is filled into the heart’s center, then kiln-fired at just the right temperature to fuse it into a smooth, glassy surface. It takes several rounds of layering and firing to achieve the perfect finish.
Once complete, the heart is set onto a 14K gold chain—simple, elegant, and full of soul.
